Space NK has offloaded its US wholesale division to the North American distributor for JVN Hair and Balmain Beauty.
The PCA Companies purchased the British beauty retailer’s US operations on 18 June, with the transaction including all of its systems, concepts and employees.
Space NK's assets will be used to improve the “growth potential” of the beauty supplier headquartered in New York.
“Three years ago, we pivoted the US business to focus solely on high-service wholesale with a clear vision of providing brands the structure and support to achieve success in the US retail landscape,” said Andy Lightfoot, CEO of Space NK.
“Now backed by scale and mature systems we have total confidence that this partnership will benefit all of our retail and brand partners in achieving that goal.”
Space NK’s US wholesale division comprises 600 distribution points, including 28 Bloomingdale’s stores, 93 Nordstrom Full Line stores and 200 Nordstrom Rack stores.
Its reach also includes nine Hudson Bay sites, along with 265 Beauty SpaceNK installations in Walmart locations throughout North America.
“Space NK has done a wonderful job of curating an apothecary concept for brands within a variety of retailer environments that meet the consumer where they are,” added Piyush Golia, CEO of The PCA Companies.
The acquisition follows The PCA Companies signing a distribution partnership with Italian fragrance houses Fornasetti and Tiziana Terenzi in June.
The fragrance brands join Thomas Kosmala and Vahy in the business’ niche luxury fragrance division.
The PCA Companies, valued at US$850m in 2024, is also the distributor for US skin care brand Pipette.
