Singer-songwriter and brand owner Pharrell Williams has released his first fragrance for luxury fashion and beauty brand Louis Vuitton.
Called LVRS – pronounced ‘lovers’ – the ‘Happy’ singer’s team-up with the LVMH brand is said to be inspired by sunlight.
Williams, who is also creative director of the French brand’s menswear range, teamed up with Louis Vuitton perfumers, father and daughter duo Jacques and Camille Cavallier Belletrud, to develop the scent.
The fragrance includes fresh and fruity notes such as bergamot and ginger, as well as green notes of galbanum to reflect the feeling of sunlight.
These have been blended with notes of cedar and sandalwood, inspired by the earth and forests.
LVRS is available in a travel case and perfume holder that can hold three bottles of the fragrance.
It is decorated with the camo motif featured in Williams’ first Louis Vuitton collection, which was released last year.
“The sunlight theme that illuminated Pharrell's first show on the Pont Neuf [in Paris] in June 2023 inspired us to translate photosynthesis into a fragrance,” said Cavallier Belletrud.
“This may seem an abstract concept, but if we reflect on existence, photosynthesis lies at the origin of everything.”
This is not Williams’ first foray into fragrance, however.
The 51-year-old previously launched a scent, Girl, in 2014, created in partnership with fragrance brand Comme Des Garçons.
He would go on to unveil his debut skin care brand Humanrace (pictured) in 2020.
The genderless line launched with three products, a cleanser, exfoliant and moisturiser, and later expanded into sun protection products.
